As Christians we are called to serve our Lord God as faithful minsters of His Word and stewards of our faith through good deeds. We have many groups doing work within our church and throughout our community that offer an opportunity to serve our neighbors.
Altar Guilds of both churches care for the vestments, vessels, altar linens, and altars. Their diligent, and sometimes tedious work, results in a beautiful presentation for us each and every Sunday as well as special occasions. If this is where your talents lie, we would love to have you join us!
Lay Liturgical Groups such as Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Acolytes and Ushers welcome you to join us in serving our church and our Lord.
Adult Sunday School is held each Sunday morning at 10:15 AM in the Parish House. The lesson is focused on the readings for the day and there are mentors that share the responsibility of enlightening us. Before the program, a light breakfast is available and is provided by volunteers. We look forward to seeing you there.
Pastoral Care is one of our outreach groups working within the church and community, ministering to those who need our love and support for a myriad of reasons. If you feel called to be a part of this special team, we would love to have you!
Newcomers is a group of parishioners tasked with welcoming visitors and newcomers to our parishes. If ‘meeting and greeting’ is your thing, ask about becoming a part of this vital church ministry.
Episcopal Church Women (ECW) is a group of dedicated women who provide an enormous contribution to our churches and the community at large and you do not have to be a woman to be involved! Our ECW operates a Food Pantry and Thrift Store, has adopted a Prayer Shawl ministry, gathers United Thank Offerings seasonally, funds scholarships for youth summer camps and ‘beyond high school’ education, prepares food baskets for holiday occasions, and prepares bereavement dinners, just to name a few things. For their efforts requiring funds, our ladies work as a group wrapping Christmas gifts at the Outlet mall, host a Shrimp Creole Dinner during our local Blessing of the Fleet Festival, and make crab stew and bake goodies to sell during the Day in Darien (November). If you are a special lady (or guy), we would like to meet you! Our meetings occur on the 3rd Saturday of the month in the Parish House at 10:00 AM.
St. Andrew’s Choir is a group of dedicated singers who gather for the love of singing. The choir sings at the 11:15 AM service at St. Andrew’s every Sunday and practices on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The Choir is directed by Diane McAuliffe and is open to anyone who loves to sing.
Christian Men’s Fellowship is an interdenominational group of men who meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month at B&J’s restaurant for a dutch-treat breakfast, fellowship and discuss projects. The main focus of this group has been to build handicap access ramps and other home modifications, i.e. handrails and special stairs, for those in need and at no cost to the recipient. And you don’t have to be a man to be a part of the group! The group is comprised of folks from as many as 5 McIntosh County churches (at last count) have built in excess of 130 access ramps within McIntosh, and neighboring Glynn, counties. The funding of the lumber and other supplies through L.I.F.E. (Living Independence for Everyone) in Savannah, GA keeps the need to raise funds at a minimum. Community Youth Connection partners with the community of McIntosh County in order to connect at-risk children with people and resources that will help them to become whole people and solidify their growth into adulthood. Activities include tutoring, after-school program and youth outreach programs. Information about these Youth Ministries is available here
Ultreya , a spanish word meaning “Onward”, is comprised of individuals who have completed a Cursillo event. Ultreya meetings are monthly consisting of covered dish dinner and are filled with praise music, fellowship and a worship service.
Haven’t been to Cursillo? Cursillo is a three-day weekend filled with spiritual enrichment, fellowship, and an opportunity to learn about Christian leadership. Many members of our congregation have attended this Christian Renewal weekend and would be glad to share. Education for Ministry (EfM) is a program that provides the education and foundation to carry out the ministry that we are called to through Holy Baptism. The overall program consists of four years of study, taking participants through Old and New Testaments, the History of the Church, and beyond. Through study, prayer, and reflection, the EfM participants move toward a new understanding of the fullness of God’s kingdom. A group consists of six to twelve participants and a trained mentor who meet weekly over the course of a nine-month academic year. These meetings are usually from two and a half to three hours in length. Our trained mentor leads currently leads a ten person seminar group in this endeavor. We meet weekly on Monday nights from September through May. Sign up for each year of study is in early August. If you’d like to deepen your faith and understanding of our Christian heritage, please think about joining the group for the next academic year! This program is offered through the School of Theology at the University of the South, additional information is available on their EfM website as well.
